Sour Cream Containers

I have been making Halloween Sour Cream Containers for the past few years, they are great for giving out to the kids in your child's classroom or to the kids at the babysitters.

Here are a few I made this year.

I didn't take pics of the process but here's a great tutorial(scroll to the bottom of the page, click last page and then move back to page 34, it's about half way down the page). These are so simple to make, I usually make them when watching a favorite show.

I used a 6" x 6" piece of scrapbook paper.
And I used my fence punch & a circle scallop & circle punch with a witch stamp to decorate the containers.

This is a paper crimper, I use it to crimp the ends of the container for a nice finished look.

Bone Appetite!

Hey Guys!

I think I'm finally running out of Halloween crafts, phew, I've got enough now to fill the house.

But here's a little something I made for my guest post at Lolly Jane on Wednesday past!

Bone Appetite

I have seen so many versions of skeleton's on plates this year and I love how it looks, so spooky for that table top or mantle decoration.

Here is what I started with.

A Dora plastic plate.
2 packages of skeleton pieces.
A small glass candlestick .
A glass cloche.
Halloween tule & mini bats for embellishment.
Black spray paint.

This is so easy it's ridiculous.
  • I took that little Dora plate and gave it a couple coats of black spray paint, so much better now!
  • I hot glued the plate to the glass candlestick.
  • I dumped the bones onto the plate.
  • I covered it with the glass cloche.
  • I attached the mini bats to the glass cloche with double sided tape.
  • I tied a bow around the knob of the glass cloche with the Halloween tule.

Done.

I am embarrassed at how easy this was to make so I also made something else that's equally so easy it's ridiculous.

See these candle sticks? Drab and just plain ugly. My Mom picked them up for real cheap knowing that I would turn them into something fab.

A little silver spray paint and black candle sticks and these puppies look stupendous next to my bone thingy.

Well, I just might put some Christmas candles in them at Christmas time too - silver is so multifunctional isn't it?

Dresser Makeover

See the dresser in this picture?

It's been sitting here like this in my basement for a couple of years now.

It was given to us and I was so happy because I had dreams of refinishing it but it sat & sat & sat.
Here's a couple more pics of how hideous it looks.

It was in terrible condition but it's nothing that a little paint can't fix.
I found a really nice pale yellow paint in the mistint section at the hardware store for $5 and it was a paint and primer in one - perfect.

I also spray painted the handles silver, they really pop now!

Here is how it turned out!

Tin Can Mummy

Do you save bottles, tins and containers like I do?
I never want to throw any type of container away because I always think that I'll come up with a use for it.

How about potato chip tins like pringles?

They make perfect cookie tins, especially for giving to friends & family!

Here's how I turned a pringles Walmart Brand potato chip tin into some halloween gift giving bling.

Hand tear white card stock into strips.
Distress the edges with brown ink & a sponge.

I used double sided tape to cover the tin with the paper strips.

I had some raffia lying around so I wrapped it around the tin as well.

For the eyes I used a 1" & 1 1/4" hole punch with white & black card stock.
And I then glued on black buttons.

Add a gift tag & decorative ribbon and you're all set!

But wait!!!
Don't forget to bake some cookies to fill it with!

Mmmm, these were good. Unfortunately they are not homemade :(
Just store bought Pillsbury cookies with a few halloween sprinkles on top.
