When we completed the den in our basement we were left with the expensive task of furnishing it. Not wanting to spend a fortune on furniture, since the finishing of the basement was expensive enough, I started looking for used furniture that I could try and turn into something beautiful for our space.
I came across a dresser for $20. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of how the dresser looked when we bought it. But it was horrid, dark brown, scarred and a huge eyesore. I looked passed that and could see how nice it could look. I loved the detail on the drawers and the handles.
My first attempt at painting the dresser failed...well....my husband couldn't stand the pale turquoise that I had antiqued using a brown stain.
So it sat in an unfinished room in the basement for about a year.
I liked it this color and would have been content to leave it, but he really couldn't stand it and didn't think it went with the room.
Then I came across a wonderful pale yellow paint (I had already painted one dresser with the color for my craft room, see here and here).
So I started all over again and I'm really glad I did The dresser does looks so much better in our
den now and every time I look at it I love it.
