Apparently
the inside skin of a banana peel is wonderful for shining shoes. I'd remove all
the stringy bits first though!

Used tea bags
will sooth a sunburn, or you can add a few to your bath and soak your body to
ease the sunburn pain.
We've all had price tags that leave that sticky guck behind. Try rubbing it with
peanut butter. It will help the price tag peel away with ease.

Vanilla
Extract is excellent for deodorizing your refrigerator. Pour a tiny bit on a
cotton ball or paper towel and lay it in your fridge, it will smell wonderful!

A great way
to repel ants is by using chalk powder. Spread chalk powder around the exterior
of your house. Ants are repelled by the calcium carbonate in the chalk.

Instead of using baking soda for deodorizing
the fridge, use it to control dandruff.
Create some homemade baking soda shampoo. Use 1/8 cup of baking soda
mixed with warm water each time you wash your hair, you'll find your hair free
of flakes and softer.

Deodorize
your garbage disposal. Pour 1/2 cup of salt into the bottom of the disposal and
rinse it with warm water. The smell will be gone in a flash. Add a little lemon squeeze if
you want to freshen things up a little more.

I can personally endorse the tea for a sunburn cure. Being a fair skinned redhead I have had more than my share of bad sunburns, and the ONLY thing that worked to soothe and heal them was tea! We would brew up a big batch of it and soak a washcloth in it, then place the washcloth on the burn and leave it there until it cooled and repeat. The Tannins in the tea help to pull out the pain and heal the burn. It really works. Neat tips all the way around, thanks for posting them.

Awesome tips! I received a tip from my grandmother recently - my daughter had a horrendous rash - a mixture of tea bags and baking soda in her bath took the rash away almost IMMEDIATELY... only took one treatment. When she woke up the next morning the rash was gone. Hmm... more to these products than meets the eye! Thanks so much for sharing!

ReplyDeleteI never knew that about teabags! Definitely will have to try that one! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteTHanks for linking up on SweetTalkin' Sunday! Here is a tip that works too! If your child or a loved one uses dish washing liquid in your dish washer instead of the "Dishwasher Liquid", as soon as you realize the mistake pour a cup of white vinager and a hand full of salt in the bottom of the dishwasher and rinse. May take a couple of cycles to get all the bubbles out but it will work. My cousin found this out on Easter.
