Shutter Display - Bright New Look & Awesome Sign

I love shutters, I just wish I could come up with
something creative to do with them.
For the longest time, this is how
they looked in my craft room.

I love the yellow, I love the lanterns
but something just isn't flowing.
Perhaps it's those ugly orang-ish candles
in the lanterns for a start!

I gave the shutters a fresh & brighter coat
of yellow paint.  I also cut out a little
banner from scrapbooking paper and glued
it to some bakers twine and draped it across the shutters.

And I painted those aweful candles.
They were just for display anyways, I wasn't going to
spark them up so I slathered it on, nice and
thick - wax is hard to cover with paint!

And now for the " AWESOME " Sign!

I started with a ceramic floor tile,
painted it a pastel turquoise.

The best part is that I bought a Silhouette!
Hooray for me!

So I got to work and cut out the words on cardstock,
and placed it on the now dry tile

I painted the first 4 words grey.

And the AWESOME a variety of pretty pastels.

Now here's the new look!

Bright & Beautiful

I may give this to my super daughter
for her room because
she is  AWESOME !

Make sure you are all  AWESOME  today,
and everyday!

SUMMER banner

A SUMMER BANNER

I'm still keeping with the
RED
YELLOW
&
TURQUOISE
colors when adding some
summer cheer to my kitchen.

But the weather here is nothing
like summer...it's chilly & foggy
...and oh so depressing.

A little bit of sunshine inside
makes everything better!

I used everything from my
stash to make this banner.
I didn't purchase a thing!

Aren't those little wooden
lady bug
so cute!

I used tons of buttons and
paper flowers to jazz it up a bit.

I love the colored clothes pins,
they could be a bit smaller but
I had these on hand.

The more I look at it, the more
I love it!

Now I have to find a home
for the banner in my kitchen...
that shouldn't be too hard!

Can you believe it?
As I type my husband is in the
den lighting the wood stove!!

Yes, it's that cold outside.
I guess it's a cozy night in for us!

St. Patrick's Shelf

So I finally have my shelf decorated for

St. Patrick's Day.

It's nothing fancy, pretty simple...

I spied a couple of awesome printables that I included in my decorating.
The Subway Art can be found here at Sweet Anne Designs and the Lucky printable can be found here at A Step in the Journey. Thanks gals for creating these, they rock!

I printed this banner last year, before I was
blogging so I didn't
keep note of where I got it.

The little birdie was one I purchased last
year on clearance at
Michaels for $1.50 and I
glued it to a glass candle stick I picked
up at the thrift store.
The framed shamrocks is a DIY I did
last week, check it out here.

Easy Shamrock Banner

Since I should have started decorating at least a week ago for

St. Patrick's Day

I was in search of an easy banner to put across my dining room window.
A pack of shamrock doilies (for 50% off!) and some fishing line did the trick.

You can't get any easier than this.

Valentines at Alderberry Hill

The Valentine decorations are coming together. I'm adding in things here and there as I make them.

Here are a few pics from around the house.

I don't have a mantle, and oh how I long for one.
But, I do have a shelf!!

Here is the link to the first printable & the middle printable. The Home Sweet Home is not one of my printables, I forget where I got this last year.

Closeups of the banner made with scrapbooking paper & rubber stamps.

Paper Halloween Banner

I am still on a banner kick!
But this time I created a Halloween banner out of scrapbook paper and cupcake liners.
I really love the simple traditional black and orange together, you can't go wrong.

I trimmed my cupcake liners to a small, medium, large layout and distressed them on the edges, just a little, with black ink. I also distressed the edges of the white circle that I cut from cardstock. I cut 1" strips from coordinating scrapbook paper to decorate the top edge and then hole punched each triangle and fed the ribbon through.

I used hot glue to attach each cupcake liner and cardstock circle. My chipboard letters & embellishments were sticky back.

It's amazing what you can make from a few sheets of paper and cupcake liners!

I really want to start decorating for Fall & Halloween but I think I'd be the only one on the block doing so!
